The Eppenberg tunnel, equipped with the rigid overhead conductor bar system (ROCS) from Furrer+Frey AG, was successfully commissioned. With this project, F+F was able to hand over another traction current key project to SBB. The double-track tunnel, which is over three kilometres long, is the main element of the four-track expansion Olten - Aarau.
Furrer+Frey was completely responsible for the planning, procurement and installation of the ROCS, which is designed for a line speed of 180 km/h. The first commercial trains have been running since 5 October and the official commissioning will take place at the timetable change on 13 December 2020.
