Planning of new overhead contact line system for Berne Bümpliz Süd stabling yard

Four additional sidings for regional and long-distance trains were added to Berne Bümpliz Süd train station to relieve the pressure on Berne’s stabling yards. An existing siding was extended and electrified. This expansion was needed to cope with the 2025 expansion phase in the Berne area and to secure capacity for the expected increase in rail passenger numbers.

Furrer+Frey was responsible for the complete planning of the new overhead contact line system, from the construction project phase through to the commissioning of the new stabling yard.
