The Maaslijn is the railway connection between Nijmegen and Roermond in the Netherlands. With about 22,000 passengers per day, it is the busiest regional railway in Limburg and one of the busiest in the country. From 2024 to 2028, the operator Arriva Nederland is working to make the Maaslijn more reliable and sustainable. The provinces of Limburg, Noord-Brabant and Gelderland and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management have decided to electrify the Maaslijn together with ProRail.

Mit dem Rückbau der Feldversuchsanlage auf Gleis 2 im Bahnhof Opfikon endete am 8. Juni 2026 die Ära unserer Deckenstromschiene des Typs CR1. Die Anlage war seit 1989 in Betrieb und befand sich auch nach rund 37 Jahren noch in gutem Zustand.

We have replaced the existing catenary system in the Vereina Tunnel and at the RhB loading stations with a rigid overhead conductor rail system. The retrofit was carried out under live operating conditions - exclusively during nightly closures.

Together with a local project partner, we have successfully completed the electrification of the Katra–Dharam section in the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The 82-kilometre route is part of the USBRL (Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link) corridor, which connects the Kashmir region to the national railway network.

In action between the Neugut and Ringwiesen stations

The track renewal between Altendorf and Lachen involved updating the overhead contact line on the main line Zurich–Sargans below the Seestattstrasse overpass.

At Thun railway station, many of the overhead contact line portal structures had reached the end of their service life – some dating back as far as 1922. A breakdown would have resulted in the closure of all main tracks and disrupted access to the Lötschberg Base Tunnel.

The festive season is just around the corner, and with it a time for pause and gratitude.

After almost four years of intensive project work – from the initial development and design meetings through planning and installation to the final training and commissioning – the major EOLE (Est-Ouest Liaison Express) tunnel project in Paris is now complete.
