In autumn, heating elements clipped on the contact wire were installed to prevent hoarfrost from clinging to the wire and thus avoid excessive contact strip wear at a tunnel entrance of Gornergratbahn-The Matterhorn Railway. The Thermo-Camera picture shows successfully heated contact wires.
