Client: Limmattalbahn AG
Project name: New Limmattalbahn line between Altstetten and Killwangen
Partners: Fahrgrund AG (project support), Schneider Stahlbau AG (mast supplier), Baumeler AG (subcontractor for the fibre optic network)
Year of completion: 2022
The Limmattalbahn, a light railway similar to the Glattalbahn, runs in two stages from Altstetten to Killwangen. In stage 1, tram line 2 was extended from Farbhof to Schlieren, with the new line being integrated into the existing infrastructure. In addition to this, the trolleybus overhead line from Farbhof to Hermetschloo was rebuilt. In stage 2, the line from Schlieren through the centre of Dietikon to Killwangen station was rebuilt.
As full-service general contractor, Furrer+Frey was responsible for the overhead contact line system and executed SIA phases 51–53. We installed the new overhead contact line system along the entire route and provided all materials. The StB-FL 100 overhead contact line from Furrer+Frey AG was installed primarily with cross spans on wall anchors and masts. Cantilevers were used in the Geissweid turning loop, in the area around Dietikon railway station and in the Niderfeld area between Dietikon and Killwangen.
